Regional banks have undoubtedly benefitted from deregulation in 2018, but progress remains slower than expected. Positive signs still remain however, as the Fed continues to slowly unwind Dodd-Frank measures and community banks begin looking more and more appetizing for M&A activity among the larger regional players who wish to expand core deposits and lending relationships with small to mid-sized businesses . . .
